I spent two of the three days of the Richard Rohr retreat over this last weekend in Bar Harbor, traveling a little farther on the Journey that must include hearing the "Good News" of the Teachings of Jesus in the Gospels in a manner that doesn't push a particular religion or ideology. Rohr is wonderful at this, crossing all lines of specific doctrine and dogma and reaching tons of people of all persuasions.

I heard a song by Mavis Staples recently that was for me a Love Letter from God/Jesus, The spirit, a Higher Power, that affirmed once again that we are loved, and that God wants to be revealed in us. The first line is an amazing revelation in itself - I am lonely too - God longs for us, for our turning in God's direction. God has emotions which for the most part are ignored by most religions. But that is my take on the song. Read the lyrics, and please listen to the song and decide for yourself.
